“Reef Goddess”
Day trips depart Mission Beach to the Great Barrier Reef taking in a minimum of two separate outer Barrier Reef sites. The sites are chosen on the day to suit weather and environmental conditions. Our vessel ‘Reef Goddess’ was designed with your safety and comfort in mind offering spacious deck areas, hot showers, toilets, sun deck and a very well designed rear deck for entering and exiting the water.
Our professional crew are on hand to ensure your Great Barrier Reef experience is both memorable and educational. We offer a full BBQ buffet lunch cooked by the ship’s Captain with fresh prawns and complimentary tea and coffee. Your day with Mission Beach Dive will be one you and your family will never forget
“Sousa”
‘Sousa’ is the indigenous name for Hump Back Dolphin and that’s just how she performs, riding the waves with ease! She is a 7m Swift Aluminum RIB designed for comfort, safety and performance. She is powered by twin 150hp Yamaha’s and being an ex Marine Parks Vessel she is equipped with the latest navigation equipment, radar, sounder, safety equipment and more. You can even rinse off under the fresh water shower!!!! She cruises at a quick 30 knots when it’s calm and when it’s a bit bumpy she’s a pretty dry ride at about 22 knots. She will get you to your snorkel and dive sites comfortably and safely.
Your day on board ‘Reef Goddess’ to the Outer Great Barrier Reef
8.30am & 9am – You will begin your adventure to the Great Barrier Reef from our beachfront office at Wongaling Beach where you will board Island Spirit from the beach. Wear your swimmers as you have to walk through water to your knees to board!!
Just a quick 10 minute transfer will land you onto beautiful Dunk Island where you will board ‘MV Reef Goddess’. ‘Island Spirit’ is a fully enclosed custom built passenger transfer vessel designed specifically for beach landing.
9.30am – After introductions and safety briefing from your captain, we depart Brammo Bay at Dunk Island and head off to the East sitting on 18 knots reaching our first reef location in under 1 1/2 hours.
11am – In the water at our first Outer Great Barrier Reef location (our locations are determined on the day to suit weather conditions). You will have an hour exploring our untouched reefs with our crew on hand to assist with your gear and getting going. Our free snorkel briefing will cover what to do and what not to do to ensure your safety and enjoyment at the reef.
12pm – Depart for a 1/2 hour cruise to our second snorkel location and lunch preparation.
12.30pm – Arrive at our second location where the ships captain will cook your BBQ lunch served alongside fresh prawns, salads and fresh tropical fruit. After your well earned lunch, onto the second of our snorkel and dive explorations. Another hour of learning, seeing and experiencing one of the worlds natural wonders.
3pm – After more snorkelling or diving your crew will ‘up anchor’ and head for home back to Dunk Island.
4.30pm – Transfers onboard ‘Island Spirit’ for a quick trip to mainland Mission Beach
Plenty of free ride time! As well as the Safari, this tour also provides the best chance to see dolphins, turtles, dugongs and other marine life.
Our ski’s are very powerful but also very stable and most importantly they are extremely comfortable and easy to ride.

Fishing
Dunk Island
Our roomy 26ft custom Sportfisher, the Spirit of Dunk, is decked out with the latest electronics – you will catch fish! We also have the latest dynamic positioning system which will put you precisely over that school of fish or that reef outcrop and, instead of waiting to deploy 40m of anchor chain, you will be throwing a line in straight away. You’ll have more time actual fishing instead of waiting for anchoring!
She is fast and comfortable with a 2016 model 225 Yamaha pushing her at up to 25 knots cruise (dependant on sea and wind conditions).
Be it popper , jigging trolling or bottom fishing, her open centre console design and great stability makes her the logical choice for your offshore trip. Great visibility and her ability to manoeuvre in tight spots allows you to get up close and personal with both the fish and the reef.
“Spirit of Dunk” has new age high accuracy dynamic position technology on board, allowing us to fish, swim or snorkel without an anchor, great for your fishing/snorkelling trip, great for the reef!
She has an easy access duckboard at the stern allowing access for snorkellers/spearfishers, or just have a swim at lunch!

Dunk Island’s lush rainforest, dense flora and fauna offers a variety of wildlife, the blue Ulysses butterfly, mammals and about 150 species of birds, including rare and vulnerable seabirds. The spectacular island also offers a large variety of marine life in the reefs, including crabs, shellfish, sea turtles, fish, dugongs and colourful corals.
As well as magical walking tracks and secluded beaches, Dunk Island also offers toilet and shower amenities on the spit and fantastic campgrounds with BBQ facilities, so upon finishing your walks, you can unpack the picnic in the Day Use Area and spend the rest of the day relaxing under the shade of the palm trees. Stop in at the Sunsent Bar for lunch and a couple of cold drinks after a wander up Mt Kootaloo!

For Kids
* Build a sand castle.
* Even better, build a drip castle!
* Bury Mum or Dad.
* Bomb off the jetty.
* Build a cubby house/shelter out of palm fronds.
* Collect cat’s eye shells in the shallows with snorkel gear (Mum and Dad will give you 50c a pop!) That keeps them busy for hours!
* Find a bird eating spider on the walks.
* Take a blow up tube or toy to play with in Dunk Island’s protected bays.
* Give them a rest under a tree.
For Big Kids
* Bomb off the jetty!
* Take an esky with a BBQ and beers – we have a beach cricket set and soccer ball to borrow.
* Snorkel at Muggy Muggy Beach.
* Sit and eat oysters off the rocks on Coconut Beach.
* Walk to the top of Mount Kootaloo and find the Geo Cache and leave a present – for those who have no idea what I’m talking about check it out http://geocaching.com.au/
* Continue on the circuit track and duck into Coconut Beach before returning to the spit.
* Take some fishing gear and catch a big one.
* Crack a coconut.
* Overnight camp on Dunk Island.
* Still at our age, build a shelter!
* Relax and enjoy the quiet serenity and watch out for turtles and dugong.
* Take a book and read it!
* Bird spotting – the feathered ones that is!

Blencoe Falls

Location; Spectacular Blencoe falls located in Girringun National Park; Almost too grand for photos to do it justice, Blencoe falls need to be viewed in person to appreciate fully; Plunging 90 m to the pool below, before cascading a further 230 m through tiers of cliff faces to the bottom of the Gorge. The trek; 4x4s will take you off road through an incredibly diverse landscape, highlighted by views over hinchinbrook island, the largest national park island on the planet.
